Helpful Hints to Make Your Trip Easier
1. Mather Pack Station is located at the intersection of Evergreen Road and Hetch Hetchy Road at San Francisco Recreation Camp Mather.
2. Highway Mileage:
Mather to Hetchy Dam is 9 miles and takes about 20 minutes.
Yosemite to Mather is 29 miles and takes about an hour.
Modesto to Mather is 90 miles and takes 2 hours via Highway 120.
Fresno to Mather is 126 miles and takes 3 hours via Highway 41.
San Francisco to Mather is 180 miles and takes 4 hours via Highway 120.
3. We truck our horses to Hetch Hetchy Dam where our pack trips start.
4. Pack season is approximately from June 15 to September 15.
5. Reserve your wilderness permit with the park service at Mather Ranger Station ( 209 ) 372 - 0740. Because of security reasons: Hetch Hetchy Road is closed between 9 Pm. and 7 Am. You can pick up your reserved wilderness permit when you go through the Mather Ranger Station, plus pay the park entry Fee of $20 per car ( Good for 7 Days).
6. There is overnight camping at Hetchy. Camping is available at Forest Service Campground at Middlefork Creek. Lodging is available at Evergreen Lodge (209) 379-2606, a 1/2 mile from Mather; or Middlefork Motel (209) 962-7408, 14 miles from Mather.

8. Mather Pack Station also provides local activities around our corral, such as scheduled children and beginner rides, one hour guided tours, 2 hour, 4 hour or all day rides to scenic points of interest, sunset rides, our famous breakfast rides, along with evening hay wagon rides.
