Pack Trips
Howdy Pardners
We wish to introduce you to a most unusual and satisfying vacation into the back country of Northern Yosemite. We cannot describe the beauty of these mountains and do them justice. A pack trip with saddle horses and pack mules helps you renew our country's pioneering experiences. Whether you like fishing, sightseeing, camping, the great outdoors or just plain old family togetherness, a pack trip can do it all.
Since 1929, our family has been providing reliable stock, along with western hospitality and service to wilderness seeking guests. What better way to find solitude and breathable air, along with forgetting your hectic schedules and telephones. You can unwind in this unmatched mountain scenery and renew family togetherness. Making the trip by horseback and having the burdens borne by pack stock allows considerable freedom to partake in this mountain wonderment. Our prime concern has always been the safety and satisfaction of our customers. We are proud that many clients return year after year. Your pack trip may be as modest or as elaborate as your wallet and time permits.
Reserve your wilderness permit with the park service at Mather Ranger Station ( 209 ) 372 - 0740. Because of security reasons: Hetch Hetchy Road is closed between 9 Pm. and 7 Am. You can pick up your reserved wilderness permit when you go through the Mather Ranger Station, plus pay the park entry Fee of $20 per car ( Good for 7 Days).

Spot Trips
These are our main business, where a packer with stock will transport your party and gear to a location and return for you at a later date. Our most popular one day trip is to Vernon Lake (10.5 miles or 4.5 hours on horseback, one way). A scenic lake setting in a granite basin, with both lake and stream fishing. This is an economical way to enjoy the wilderness without leaving the basic comforts. Your length of stay does not affect charges. The one day spot trip permits the packer to return to the pack station the same day. The longer spot trip places you in more remote areas requiring the packer to say overnight. Please plan on feeding the packer dinner and breakfast on overnight trips. There is a 2-day charge on stock and packer used to take the party in and a 2-day charge on return.
Backpacker or Dunnage Trips
This service is popular with backpackers who want to take along some luxuries (fresh meat, eggs, beer, etc.) along with getting a head start into the high country. Members of your group can ride or hike, we provide the transportation of your backpacks and gear to a prearranged spot. We require a minimum of three head of stock. We do not wish to make a dunnage drop without someone in the party riding with us or hiking ahead to meet us at the drop site.
Extended Pack Trips
This service can be made where the packer and the stock remain with the party all the time so you may move from one camp to another as you wish. You provide your own gear and food and feed the packer.
